Facebook gets criticized by 50+ groups for not removing anti-PrEP advert

Facebook has received criticism by HIV, LGBT+ and other groups of public health after it had refused the removal of the adverts which claim that the usage of PrEP carries a lot of risks of some side-effects that are harmful

The adverts on Facebook which are in question have put the allegation that the PrEP has been linked to the kidney disorders and bone diseases and are purported as being from the injury lawyers and the groups which have the names which encourage the helping of victims of TDF and PrEP.

Most of the organizations have dismissed these ads as being incorrect factually and inaccurate however it is feared that after watching these ads a lot of the individuals who are at risk may avoid the vaccination leading to the avoidance of HIV infections.

There have been reports that the ads have been seen millions of times by the viewers in the previous few months.

DemetreDaskalakis who is the deputy commissioner in a health department in New York has told newspapers that four of their seven patients of PrEP have already seen the ad and have asked him about how he was putting the patients on a medication which would put them under so much danger. The patients said that they saw this on an ad at the social media platform Instagram

An open letter which has been signed by over 50 organizations says that this is beyond misinformation as it is putting the lives of a lot of real people under imminent danger.

The CDC has reported that PrEP is a vaccine that is extremely effective for the prevention of HIV from drug use or from sex.
