HTC is launching its latest smartphone known as Exodus 1, which is a cheaper version than the latest models of its rival companies like Apple and Samsung. It is a bid to make the people shift their purchasing behaviour who are buying cryptocurrencies and expensive smartphones from other companies.
The Taiwanese giant launched its latest smartphone the Exodus 1s recently. It is a smaller version of the Exodus 1, released last year. This latest gadget costs only 219 Euros or 244 USD or its equivalent in cryptocurrency. But there is another feature of this phone. It lets users exchange, lend and borrow digital assets using the phone’s inbuilt cryptocurrency-related features.
Buyers have to use a 400 GB memory card that stores the bitcoin blockchain which is a digital ledger for validating all the transactions on the phone. Thus users would now be able to verify the transactions in the phone’s bitcoin network. The cryptocurrency wallet would automatically calculate the user’s balance so that the future transactions are verified to ensure that the balance is spent by the user only.
HTC believes that it will make the company stand out in the smartphone market. Since Google bought the HTC team for making its Pixel phone in 2017, the company has not been launching a lot many new smartphones. It had been busy shifting its attention towards the field of virtual reality. The company had to show the door to as many as 1,500 employees because it wanted to ‘realign’ resources.
Those with limited access to the financial system can make use of the cryptocurrency features of this phone. HTC is viewing cryptocurrency as the new frontier in the innovation of smartphones to the next level.
